Please, DO NOT be abusive on the Vivendi/Sierra forums! (11-14-2004 until 12-17-2004)
OK guys, we've gotten some official type communications from some of our brother and sister admins and moderators over at VU/Sierra. They have had a few people really abuse their forums and spam some pretty lame and insane stuff. And together we have traced the posters back to people also with accounts here on our own forums.
We don't wish that kind of abuse on anyone and any forum. We'd certainly ban people abusing our forums as would any other forum who is trying to maintain some order. We support VU/Sierra in trying to keep things in line as much as possible.
Therefore, I am asking and in fact insisting that we have no more "Let's go abuse VU's forums!" posts. Threads will be deleted and the user can take that as their warning. If we find out users from here are going to their forums and abusing their rules, we will ban the users from our forums as well.

Posting Rules - Read These First! (02-09-2004 until 03-10-2006)
Please read and follow all of these rules before posting a response or new thread:
Administrators/Moderators reserve the right to change/edit/delete any content at any time they feel it is inappropriate.
General Forum Rules:
- Any thread flaming another person or organization gets closed on spot.
- Dont post porn, gross stuff, or anything else NSFW (not safe for work).
- Any Swearing in the topic gets closed on spot or that one post deleted.
- No "bumping" of threads because you can. There's is enough spam already.
- No one is going to sympathize with the "Steam/VAVLe sucks". This happened in _every past release_. The exact same thing happens. People complain, and then they get over it. Steam isn't going away, so complaints/flames aren't going to help your cause.
- Please use common sense. If you wouldn't say it to you parents in common conversation, it's not appropriate here.
- If anyone posts a thread with a non-constructive rant, expect it to be deleted. We've given a lot of leeway in this respect lately, because we understand the large amount of frustration due to the rocky release. Noone is more frustrated by it than us. But in order to maintain some semblance of order and usability here, posts are going to be monitored a little more strictly.
If you want your criticism to be heard, post it in a constructive manner. Contrary to what some people believe, we do take feedback from here into account, and well-thought-out and constructive feedback is seen by the entire Steam team, whether it's negative or positive.
- It's very common around here, but please don't call things that bother you "***", or generally use h.omophobic or any other discriminatory or bigoted language.
- Dont openly argue with a moderator if they decide to close / delete / move a thread or issues a warning against you.
If you dont like the decision, contact the moderator directly via PM to sort the issue out, and if that doesnt help PM an Administrator.
- Finally if you dont have something constructive to add to a thread, then dont post at all.
Leaked Content/Cheating/Hacking/Exploits:
- Please do not post any leaked emails(in part or in full), images or links to HL2 leaked builds.
- Posting any link to downloads for any leaked material results in a ban.
- To sum it up: posting links to leaks for anything from Valve = a ban.
- Any threads started in regards to glitches/cheats/hacks/etc and include a step by step "how to", a place to get the information or a demo of how to perform it is off limits.
If you indeed know of a cheat/hack/glitch and can reproduce it, then email VALVe or PM a Administrator/Moderator with the information. The Moderators are listed at the top of the Forum.
Common Info:
- Were you "banned" by VAC? Then Read this FAQ for information. If you still need further help, click the tab on top of the FAQ that says "Ask a Question"
- Do you have a CD key, password or other account problem? Then use the Steam Support Center and 'search' for your problem.
Be advised that these two areas generate alot of emails to VALVe, so dont expect an immediate response. Also when composing emails, make sure they are consturctive and professional. Any rants, cursing, etc sent in an email to VALVe may be ignored.
- Please use the 'Search" feature before posting a new thread. Most issues have been addressed many times. The "Search" feature has a 4 letter minimum search string and a 60 second waiting period between searches. To take full effect of this, make your searches intelligent, for example: "steam help" is not as good as "increase server ping". Intelligent searching will yield better results.
Lastly, thread titles can be misleading, many times the answer you need will come up in the "search" but it wont be clear until you read the entire thread, not just the title.
